Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus):

Botanical Description: Eucalyptus is a tall evergreen tree native to Australia. It has long, narrow leaves and produces clusters of small white flowers.
Part Used: The leaves and essential oil are used in herbal medicine.
Traditional Energetics:
TCM: Eucalyptus is considered pungent and cool, affecting the Lung and Spleen meridians.
Ayurvedic: In Ayurveda, eucalyptus may be considered pungent and bitter, affecting the Vata and Kapha doshas.
TCM Uses: Eucalyptus is used in TCM to clear heat, relieve coughs and asthma, and promote lung health.
Common Folk Uses: Eucalyptus is commonly used for its decongestant and expectorant properties, making it effective for treating respiratory infections, coughs, and congestion. It is also used topically for muscle and joint pain relief.
Modern Scientific Research: Research suggests that eucalyptus has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and bronchodilator effects. Eucalyptus oil has been studied for its potential benefits in treating respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis.
Dosage:
Aqueous Decoction: 1-2 teaspoons of dried eucalyptus leaves per cup of water, boiled for 10-15 minutes. Inhale the steam or drink the decoction (not recommended for internal use).
1:2 Tincture: 2-4 ml, three times a day.
