Brahmi

Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri):

Botanical Description:
Brahmi, also known as water hyssop, is a perennial herb native to wetlands and marshy areas in India, Asia, and North America. It has small, succulent leaves and produces small white flowers.

Traditional Energetics:

Ayurvedic: Brahmi is considered cooling and pacifying to Pitta dosha.
TCM: Brahmi is not traditionally used in TCM.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Uses:
Brahmi is not commonly used in TCM, but it may be used in Western herbal formulations by practitioners trained in TCM principles.

Modern Scientific Research:

Brahmi is renowned in Ayurveda for its nootropic properties, enhancing cognitive function and memory. Research suggests that brahmi may promote neurogenesis, protect brain cells from damage, and improve neurotransmitter function.

Dosage:

Aqueous Decoction: 3-6 grams of dried brahmi leaves per cup of water, simmered for 10-15 minutes. Drink up to 3 cups daily.
1:2 Tincture: 2-4 ml, three times a day.
